The Nursery/Landscape CDE test students skills in aspects of maintaining landscape plants and related products, evaluating equipment and services, and landscape design.

What You’ll Do:
- Plant Identification: Recognize common ornamental plants, trees, shrubs, and weeds.
- Plant Propagation & Cultivation: Learn seeding, cutting, grafting, transplanting, and greenhouse management.
- Landscape Design: Create scaled plans that balance aesthetics, function, and sustainability.
- Written & Practical Exams: Demonstrate your knowledge in quizzes, identification stations, and live design/build challenges.
Competition Levels:
- Chapter: Tryouts to form your team and practice plant ID and design concepts.
- Sectional & Regional: Compete in hands-on stations, written tests, and design presentations against other chapters.
- State Finals: Represent West Valley at Cal Poly SLO, showcasing your mastery of nursery and landscape skills.
