Job Interview Contest (Employable Skills)

Participants in the Employment Skills (formerly Job Interview) LDE submit a resume, complete job applications and participate in mock job interviews with a panel of possible employers.

Our Job Interview Contest equips students with the tools and confidence to excel in real-world hiring scenarios—perfect for anyone preparing to enter the workforce or pursue internships.

What You’ll Do:
  • Resume & Cover Letter Development: Craft a polished resume, cover letter, and introductory letter tailored to an agricultural career.
  • Portfolio Preparation: Assemble a professional portfolio including awards, certificates, transcripts, and letters of recommendation.
  • Mock Interview: Participate in a timed, one-on-one interview with industry professionals, answering questions on your qualifications, experience, and career goals.
  • Follow-Up Skills: Respond to situational and behavioral questions, demonstrating problem-solving and interpersonal abilities.

Competition Levels:
  1. Chapter: Compete against classmates to earn a spot on the team.
  2. Sectional & Regional: Present your portfolio and interview skills for advancing to higher rounds.
  3. State Finals: Showcase your professionalism and poise before industry judges at the state level.
